Casey's Corner

Alright we’ve got a new section on the blog called Casey’s Corner!

Casey is 13 years old and has a preference for action/adventure and science fiction and will be providing the odd review or recommendation based on what he is enjoying. He likes exciting, fast paced books with that amp up the speed and result in huge cinematic finale but is not a fan of mysteries.

I was fortunate enough to do a bit of work with Casey’s mum and we got talking on books. She mentioned her son had recently read Enders Game and enjoyed it but was looking for his next book. I had also recently read Enders Game, so, confident that he and I were on a similar level of maturity, I gave her Red Rising by Pierce Brown and Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson, thinking they were a good place to start.

Casey got in touch with me recently and he had this to say.

Dear Charlie,

It's Casey, I ABOSLUTELY LOVED RED RISING!!! And I was wondering how I could get the other two in the series. I was also wondering if you knew a good place to buy the other books. And thank you soooo much for suggesting this book to me because without it I wouldn't be hooked on Darrow's epic adventure. I cried when Eo died and I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. I wish you a happy weekend.

As a reader and blogger nothing gives me greater pleasure than directly controlling the thoughts of the next generation by feeding them books that will hopefully turn them into creative and imaginative human beings.

I look forward to hearing from Casey about his thoughts on Steelheart and have recommended he look at Prince of Fools by Mark Lawrence for his next challenge.
